Eliza Southwood specialises in cycling prints, paintings, and illustrations - she draws coffee sometimes too, and has previously produced the ultimate combination. A fantastic collection of prints (and this delightful mug) are now available in our online shop.
To celebrate the new collection, we decided to hang the 'Spring Classics' prints on our walls. Stunning, hand printed AO silkscreens capturing the hallowed monuments.
What's your name and where'd you come from?
Eliza Niamh Southwood (nee Girling) if you want the full whack! My parents are Londoners but I grew up in rural Worcestershire until age 10, followed by a remote village in Northern Spain, followed by a year working as a stable hand (it's a long story) in another remote village in Italy and then university in Glasgow, and since then London....
Tell us about the Classics Series...
The Classics were originally commissioned for a show last year at the Rapha Gallery in Manchester. Technically, they were very difficult to produce by hand because of their size. Each large format print represents one of the Spring Classics races: the Fleche Wallonne, Paris Roubaix, Amstel Gold, Tour of Flanders, Liege Bastogne Liege and Milan San Remo. We originally released them in sequence as the events unfolded. It's nice that they're going on show in London now.
Paris-Roubaix or Tour of Flanders?
Paris Roubaix every time.
The Classics Series show at Old St. will run until May 2016. Drop by to view them anytime until then.
We're open from 7.30am weekdays, 8.30am Saturday, 9am Sunday and until 10pm every day.
Join us for the launch night on Wednesday 2nd March from 6.30pm.
Eliza is joining us to celebrate the show. All welcome. Freshly prepared food, craft beer on tap and Square Mile coffee available.
