Stage 1

Floortje MackaijTeam Sunweb

"When you think of the flat, fast sprint finish in Doncaster, names like 2016 Women’s Tour de Yorkshire winner Kirsten Wild, Alexis Ryan, Katie Archibald and 2016 world champion and track superstar Amalie Dideriksen come to mind. But Floortje Mackaij is a name to watch out for and could be a sprinter powering to glory in Yorkshire.

The 22-year-old has been in form for a number of years. She won Gent Wevelgem in 2015 and a stage of Festival Elsy Jacobs in the same year.

But most recently, she sprinted home to take victory at Omloop van de Westhoek and finished third at Dwars door Vlaanderen. Add to these impressive results the sprint train she is likely to be on, with the mighty Ellen van Dijk battling for position before unleashing Floortje, the Dutch woman is certainly one to get excited about as the women hurtle towards the finish line on Thursday."

Stage 2

Hayley Simmonds, WNT-ROTOR Pro Cycling

"The Team England Commonwealth bronze medallist is fresh from medal-winning exploits in the time trial on the Gold Coast, and she was also heavily involved in the business end of the road race too, which featured several brutal climbs, one of which she attacked on with just 3km to go.

The Cote de Cow and Calf summit finish – the first ever in the Tour’s history - will be tough. It is 1.8km at 8.2% - but Hayley is clearly in good shape and if she has managed to hold on to some of that form she demonstrated on the Gold Coast she could certainly be a dark horse as the gradients on the infamous Yorkshire climbs ramp up.

Hayley is twice national time trial champion in 2015 and 2016, and in recent years has begun to focus more on the road, riding for WNT - ROTOR Pro Cycling.

In 2017 she won a stage of Internationale Lotto Thuringen Ladies Tour and finished third on the general classification, as well as finishing third in a stage of the Chrono des Nations. She has started 2018 with a bang and will be an exciting prospect at the Asda Women’s Tour de Yorkshire."
