In celebration of the start of the 2015 Tour de France, we are excited to welcome the work of lifestyle and sports culture photographer Marshall Kappel to LookMumNoHands!
Marshall's work focuses on the personalities and fleeting moments, on and off the bike, that make cycling an intricate and ever-changing visual feast. His subtle, intimate images capture the fervor of fans cheering a mountain attack, the isolation of defeat and the glory of man and machine in sync.
My photographs of World Tour professional cycling rely on the sport's culture of rugged openness to tell their story, bringing viewers close to riders, teams, fans and the beautiful locations that are the heart of cycling… even in the mundane, the glory or defeat, seeking something that brings you inside of this moving, sensory experience is extremely important to me.
