Breaking Away is a 1979 American coming of age comedy-drama produced and directed by Peter Yates, written by Steve Tesich. It follows a group of four male teenagers in Bloomington, Indiana, who have recently graduated from high school.
Dave is obsessed with the Italian cycling team and dreams of winning the university's annual bicycle endurance race.
Dave and his friends spend their post-high school days sparring with snooty students from the local university, chasing girls and - in Dave's case - dreaming of competitive bicycle racing.
