As the second edition of London Six Day kicks off on October 25th, we're dedicating the eve before to six day racing.
We're screening the short film "Six Days. A Journey“ by German film makers Mathias Kögel / Martin Erd. Hosting six day riders, offering an insight into Six Day races, the disciplines and their track bikes.
What are Six all about? How does the Madison work out? And how does a pro rider prepare for a six day event?
Captain of the German track team MALOJA PUSHBIKERS, winner of Bremen Sixdays 2016, with over 65 starts at international sixdays probably one of the most experienced riders of the sixday circuit. Christian is also a regular at the Revolution track series and has already won the elite championships twice with his team. His identifying characteristic: a thick beard.
German national team rider, Leif has participated in about 80 sixdays and can show off an impressive result list: 8 victories and more than 40 podium standings. Leif excels at a variety of disciplines – he is an excellent sprinter, a successful long-distance racer and a clever tactician. After a bone fracture prevented him from the olympics, he is now back on the track and ready for the winter season.
Initiating his career with a second position in the Madison at Junior World track Championships, Marcel has been able to win four sixdays in his career. He is tall, he is strong, he is fast. His 1,000-metre Madison time trials regularly come in below the one-minute mark, meaning his average speed is way above 60 km/h, as he also demonstrates to the UK crowd at Revolution. And he is really a very nice "Berliner“.
