Berlin based Andy Rumball is a photographer and fine artist. He's produced a series of Linocuts celebrating some of the greatest names in cycling.
In a world of carbon, computers, International committees, branding and PR it seemed appealing to ‘strip it all back’ and celebrate through the simplicity and honesty of Linocuts some of the greatest names in cycling. The series "the Peddlers" is just that. The prints don’t shy away from the limitations of this hand made process, instead showing more a nod and wink to a nostalgia found in the aesthetic of the Lino print making process and as such reflects well perhaps more the endeavour of individuals in the story of cycling.
The series was a chance for Andy to ‘have a break’ from his cameras and reflect on his love of cycling and the characters within it.
The Peddlers series (on going) are all printed by hand 21cm x 29,7cm, each as a small edition with some of the series being used further for the creation of a limited edition A2 silkscreen posters.
Based now in Berlin after many years in London, Andy finds his escape from picture making of any sort on the seat of a classic Italian Benotto in the company of his fellow club cyclists from Iduna Radfahrer-Verein, Berlin. As a portrait and fashion photographer he has worked for various magazine and newpapers across europe and in the UK and with his fine art work exhibited across europe.
